ARTIST PROFILE

I'm passionate about printmaking. The pleasure in the lifted paper 'reveal' of an image both during and at the final stage is so exciting and addictive. Possibilities are endless.....methods and materials can be explored forever! I am hugely interested in the less formal approach; the painterly qualities that can be achieved through careful consideration of colours, layers and compositional balance. Many of my prints therefore are one-off unique pieces created whilst playing around with ideas from an initial starting point.

Ways of seeing and feeling the environment around me are a constant inspiration. I live in West Yorkshire and have a studio at home, I look to my surroundings, which include the landscape of the local countryside, landscapes on walks, as well as gardens anywhere or even a single leaf or flower.

Some prints are more abstract in nature as a result of an imagined or re-invented detail or idea. It's always fun!
